Five people pass away in India due to toxic gas
The event took place in Guna district, located in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Reports state that the incident began when a cow accidentally fell into the well. In an effort to rescue the animal, two men entered the well but soon collapsed after inhaling a toxic gas present inside.
A third individual then attempted to save the two trapped men. Although he began experiencing severe breathing difficulties, he was able to escape the well and survive.
In a final rescue attempt, three more men climbed down to help the earlier victims and the cow. However, they too encountered respiratory distress due to the gas and lost consciousness. All three later died inside the well.
Authorities recovered all five bodies and launched an investigation to identify the toxic substance responsible for the deaths.
The one survivor is currently being treated and monitored at a local government hospital, officials confirmed.
