Bali Reveals Plan to Develop Ambitious Sports Tourism Hub

(MENAFN) Indonesia’s famed island of Bali is set to become home to one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced sports tourism destinations, Youth and Sports Minister Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo announced Tuesday.

The initiative has already commenced with the building of an international-standard racket sports complex located in South Kuta, Badung Regency. This project is being spearheaded and funded by private investors.

Minister Ario Bimo, popularly known as Dito Ariotedjo, shared the update following his site inspection during the 2025 Asian Fencing Championship hosted in Bali.

Designed as a top-tier racket sports facility, the new complex will accommodate tennis, padel, and pickleball events, featuring stadiums and seating areas ready to host competitions of a global scale.

"You could say it's a super racket sports complex, and this will be Bali's attraction to the world. Because later it will be combined with hotels next to it," Dito remarked in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Looking ahead, the sports center is planned to expand with the inclusion of a golf course, aiming to position itself as one of the most comprehensive sports tourism hubs in the region.

Dito also praised the private sector's role in driving the project and expressed hope that this public-private partnership would set a precedent for future sports infrastructure development in Indonesia. This, he said, will not only support local athletes but also enhance Indonesia’s capability to host major international sporting events.
