Iraq warns Us, stating their attacks on Iran are dangerous escalation

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Iraq expressed serious concern about the recent US airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, describing the actions as a dangerous escalation that extends beyond any single nation’s borders.

Basim al-Awadi, spokesperson for the Iraqi government, condemned the direct involvement of the United States in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. He emphasized that “Wars leave nothing but destruction, and the responsibility of major powers and international bodies must be to spare the world further crises, not ignite them.”

Al-Awadi warned that the US attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites heighten the risk to security and peace across the Middle East and threaten regional stability with “grave risks.” He insisted that military measures cannot replace “dialogue and diplomacy.”

The spokesman cautioned that further military actions will trigger “dangerous escalation with consequences that go beyond any country’s borders and affect the stability of the region and the world.” He urged all involved parties to “immediately calm tensions, open urgent diplomatic channels to contain the situation, and work to defuse the crisis.”

The US President announced early Sunday that American forces had targeted nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, marking the latest intensification of a US-supported Israeli military campaign against Iran since mid-June, which has sparked retaliatory missile strikes by Tehran on Israel.
